Infant Dental Exams

Did you know that the earlier your child starts to see a dentist, the higher the chances are to detect and avoid any tooth decay? Typically, Dentini Pediatric Dentistry begins seeing our littlest patients sometime after their first teeth erupts and before their first birthdays. If your child has teeth, those teeth can get cavities. We can help make sure those teeth stay healthy and strong, instead.

Sometimes, parents (especially new parents) aren't sure how important the infant dental exams we perform at our Heights and West U dentist offices really are.  The earlier and more regular dental visits your child has, the better the odds that he or she will enjoy beautiful, straight, cavity-free teeth as they grow into adulthood.

During a typical pediatric dental exam, the dentist or hygienist at Dentini will clean your child's teeth and evaluate his or her risk of tooth decay. The examination might include applying a sealant or fluoride to your child’s teeth in order to reduce the risk of decay. Routine dental exam for children might also include dental x-rays or other diagnostic procedures.

If your child cries a little or wiggles during the exam, don’t worry. As you’ve probably seen before, that’s normal behavior, and our dental team at Dentini Pediatric Dentistry understands that this is a new experience for your child—and possibly for you, too.
